Thread: C50 2008 vs. 2007 model differences?

Rhys Williams, Wales

I've been inquiring about getting a C50 at my local shop, and according to the distributors, they have a couple in stock in my size. They appear to be last year's colours though (as seen in the 2007 catalogue, but not the 2008). Ordering the colour I originally wanted would mean a 3-month wait.

My question is - is there any difference between a 2007 C50 and a 2008 C50?

Did you get any feedback elsewhere on this?
I am looking at a 2007 C50 and price for a new 2008 seems not feasible for me (unless I go with a new 2008 CLX).

TIA,

BJ

Hi guys,

Don't know if you have already decided on bikes by now, but just for your information there are no technological changes from the 2007 C50 frame to the 2008 model. However, the fork with this frame has changed from the star carbon to the carbon 75 (or C75 for short). The Carbon 75 is slightly lighter but i doubt there is any real appreciable difference between the two. I have also heard that this new fork is quite difficult to get hold of so some new frames still come with the star carbon fork anyway.

BJ if you can stretch your budget to a C50 (new or used) i would definitely go with that over the CLX. There is not a much wrong with the CLX, the C50 is just that much better in terms of performance and build quality.

This is the conclusion I came to after a bit of digging around on the net. The difference in weight is quoted as 10 or 20g - not worth bothering about.

Whether I get a discount for buying a 2007 frame is another story... (picking it up this weekend I hope)
